Wanaka disc golfers part of Kiwi success at 2017 World Team Disc Golf Champs

Disc Golf Wanaka crew members Hayley Flintoft and Kyle Martin have returned with bronze medals after the New Zealand team placed third in the 2017 World Team Disc Golf Champs held in Colchester England, earlier this month.

This is the second time the Kiwi team, known as the Flying Kiwis, have placed in the world team champs, having achieved a silver medal placing in the inaugural team competition in Vancouver in 2016.

In reviewing the NZ teams performance at the tournament here's what Kyle Martin had to say.

"What an amazing week full of ups and downs, but we managed another podium placing. The level of competition this year was very high and it may of been a downgrade from last year but we are the only country to take a medal spot two years running 🤗 What an achievement team , my heart is full of pride.

Two years till the next one , hopefully held in New Zealand 🤘 And a chance to complete a trifecta with one more medal to take gold.🥇

Thank you to everyone who supported us getting there and along the way, thank you #rpmdiscs #vorticasport #keen #cockcroftthomas #nzdg #kaiwhakapai a massive shout out to Paz And Sweets aka "team refugees" for all the team support during the rounds. Great to have some home support over here."

Congratulations to Hayley and Kyle, and all the Flying Kiwi disc golf team, including Queenstown players Ben Wiel-Lake and Paul Childs for doing us and NZ disc golf proud.

Hayley and Kyle are familiar faces at our Lismore Park and Eely Point courses - if you see them out playing go say "Hi" and they'll be happy to help with any disc golf related questions you might have.
